Thanksgiving Weekend: Remembering our First Wedding

Thanksgiving Weekend:
Remembering our First Wedding
This Thanksgiving, we took a little look back through our first Books. These Books are what vendors show prospective clients, especially venues that cannot bring our “product” to trade shows.
Our first books were very simple. We hadn’t even finished out main structure yet, The Pecan Pavilion. A wonderful, fun couple came by our booth that day. Although we were not fancy and shoved in the back of the auditorium, these two were on a mission. They wanted no-nonsense, no hidden costs, no extra details with which to hastle on their day. This wedding was about their Love and Beginning after meeting and falling in love under unusual circumstances. This wedding was about sharing themselves with their family and friends. And they hadn’t liked some of the other answers they had heards that day.
Well, they came to visit, we had a chat. They had vision and it fit with our venue. 11 months later, they had the first wedding at our venue. She was beautiful! Her smile lit the whole scene. He was dapper in his white tux. The weather was a perfect 70′s with a slight breeze and clear skies. I cried. They were fantastic to work with, and it solidified
that I would love sharing in our Future Couples’ Weddings.
It’s been two years since this maiden voyage, and each wedding has been unique and beautiful. I still cry. Our grounds have had a number of upgrades and new features. We hope our little piece of Pfugerville will continue to get more beautiful and we are happy to share it with you!
These are a few of the pictures from our first wedding. Happy 2nd Anniversary Mason and Jennifer!

Hands down, the most popular date this year was 11-11-11. Of course, this honor is typically reserved for Holidays or a date that has been lucky to our clients personally. This Once-A-Century Date was a really fun one at McMurtrie Farms! Bethany and Edmund chose our All-Inclusive Package with Crystal Occasions and Kenny’s Catering. This is one of my favorite packages, because we are all so used to working together, that we all know hat the event will be fabulous. The decorations and timing were perfect. The food was 2nds and 3rds worthy! So great!
She had a gorgeous Southern Bell-style gown with her Royal Blue and White color scheme from chair sashes to cake. Her bridesmaids’ dresses were beautiful, the flowers and cake were wonderful. The DJ spun the tunes and lit the floor. All of the pieces were in place. The food was delicious. The cues were perfect. The weather was divine. Here’s my little tour… I can’t wait to see the photos by Ed Kelley Photography!

Kendra and Tito’s Wedding October 1st, 2011.
Let’s put together a few factors:
-
worst drought in history
-
highest temperatures in history
-
outdoor venue in said ‘drought and high temps’
-
a Signature Fig Tree, the focus of a wedding, fallen. Our beautiful fig tree did not fare well this Summer.
-
A Fantastic Photographer, Innovative Bride, and Willing Venue (ready to do whatever possible to please our clients).
Well, in this case, you get some absolutely beautiful photographs of a Cinderella Wedding. Thus, my Spotlight on Knotting Hill Photography. Just look at their portfolio, you will be impressed with John Tseng’s work. Here are a few of my favorite’s from Kendra and Tito’s Wedding at our venue.

Thank you to Knotting Hill Photography for these gorgeous photographs.
A true talent.
The only thing I never guarantee, is what Mother Nature might throw our way. As an outdoor venue, we are subject to the winds and the clouds. And while we have a Rain Plan, most of our clients book because they love the outdoors. We provide that beauty without a Huge Pricetag and Long Drive.
I was extremely proud of this wedding, as we’ve never worked harder, and I’ve never seen lovelier photos of a fabulous production, at McMurtrie Farms.
The “Perfect” Wedding

Weddings are not merely our business, they are our Passion. We see many different couples, brides, family members, vendors–all with similar desires but different paths with which to arrive at this goal. As the venue, we see all the vendors. We meet with the clients, brides, grooms, and/or family members and friends on many occasions leading up to the ultimate celebration; the ultimate event that marks the beginning of two lives as one. Each is amazing. Each is a learning experience. Each is a completely different occasion.
My job is to try my best to give each event my all. We have so many different options–from Simple Ceremony Only through Diamond All-Inclusive Package–that we can accomodate and please all walks of life. We have seen many different dreams and many different ideas and circumstances within each unique event. From Nature, to Vendors, to Relatives… Even with every effort and diagram, one never knows exactly how each special event will turn out.

Recently, I had the distinct pleasure of being a part of what may be the closest wedding to Perfection that we’ve yet experienced . It wasn’t an expensive wedding. It wasn’t full of celebrities. The wedding wasn’t even your average guest count. It was Perfect.
First, we begin with a loving couple, full of respect for one another. Sometimes you can see it in their eyes, hear it in their tone of voice, witness a tender touch. Sometimes there is just a bit more… This couple had all of the above. Truly beautiful people, inside and out.
Add to that the brides amazing powers of planning and organization, and the
groom’s willingness to not only participate, but be an active member of the Planning Couple. Where one’s questions ended, the other’s picked up. Where one forgot, the other remembered. Their lives ahead were wonderfully begun by their desires to work together for the wonderful celebration that joined them for Life.
Add to this, their extreme research into the Vendor pool! There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of vendors in the CenTex area. All different styles, budgets, and temperments. Finding the greatest fit is a daunting task. Then maybe the vendors fit well with the bride, but not with the other vendors? Not this time
I have the pleasure of adding each participating vendor in this Wedding to my (highly) Recommended Vendor’s List. Each was professional, pleasant, neat and tidy, and displayed exemplary quality in their respective fields. I have listed these new additions below with links so you may all try them for yourselves!
In summary, this wedding was as close to Perfect as possible, and it reminded me as to just how much I love my job. Everyone has doubtful days, but I hope everyone has one as special as this. Thank to Mr. and Mrs. Whiting for sharing your Special Day with us.

Bridal Bash Open House a Show to Remember!
06 Oct 2011 Leave a Comment
The Show Lit the Night
Our venue has always boasted
Beauty in Versatility. Our 3rd Anniversary bridal show was wonderful evidence of this! Kristi Hix of Blushing Veil Bridal’s churning mind, Flower Chird Design’s floral arrangments and bouquets, and Richard Phillips of IES Lighting took our stage and made magic in The Meadows with a fashion show worthy of the paparazzi. And they delivered! The show made the cover of this week’s Pflugerville Pflag with photos by Dawn Poole of Signature Images.
The Vendors Make the Event
We adore our guests. They are the reason for the Open Houses. Our crew is amazing: polite, professional, hard-working, and always with a smile (even in 102 heat!). Our venue is versatile for your event. However, it is the Vendors who make these events!
The Pavilion and Gazebo were also lit by IES Lighting. Richard has a great eye for lighting and always delivers a, amazing show. In the Pavilion were our All-Inclusive vendors Ed Kelley Photography, Texas Party Rental, Short and Sweet Weddings, and Crystal Occasions. Joining these talented professionals were Queen of To Do and The Cupcake Bar. These unique vendors offer so much extra for your wedding or special event. Ed Kelley Photography demonstrates once again why we enjoy them for many events in the video below. Amazing!
The Meadows seemed to be the highlight at this year’s anniversary event with the stage set for our twilight fashion show. Our 20 X 40 tent was brought to life with the help, once again of IES lighting and the sounds of Complete Music. Branch BBQ was dishing out more than just their delicious trademark with their new delish italian cuisine! Lia Sophia had lovely jewelry and AzulOx Photography brought a display to demonstrate why Josh Baker is one of our top choices for a photographer.
Our Pflugerville Pfavorite Flower Child Design provided gorgeous center pieces as well as the bouquets for the runway. Blushing Veil Events brought in her expertise in the design and set-up of the gorgeous Meadows presentation. Local boutique All About You brought their fashions followed up by Blushing Veil’s own montage of bridal wear. The show would not have been the same without her Runway Fashion Show (that made it onto the front page of the local media).

2nd Annual Maurice’s Pfashion Pfundraiser: Sept. 18th

Of all the events out here in September (Crystal Occasion’s Ultimate Wedding Giveaway, Bridal Shows, Open Houses, Bridal Bash, Weddings, etc…), we feel the event that deserves the most attention in this post is one that is not our own. Maurice’s Clothing Store in the Stone Hill Shopping Center in Pflugerville is a Pfabulous place to shop–I know from personal experience. All of my professional and stylish casual wear comes from Maurice’s. When I go into this store, I am greeted with smiles and (being the pfashion pfailure that I am) expertise. <<they do not even work on commission!>> Every time I
wear their clothing, I get flooded with compliments. That rave aside, the gals over there go that extra mile for some who have no true voice–our homeless animals.
The national Maurice’s chain is very involved with a fundraising event for the ASPCA every year. The idea is genius–model Maurice’s fashions while walking adoptable pets from the local shelter! I loved that idea right away. When Patricia at the Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce recommended our primarily outdoor venue to Audrey and Heather over at the local Maurice’s as a great option for an animal-friendly environment for their Pfundraiser, none of us could have imagined even the possibility of this magnitude of success.
Well, the Pflugerville Maurice’s doesn’t do anything half-way. With no ASPCA directly benefitting our Pflugerville shelter, the power-team decided to deviate from the national Resues & Runways program. It was about the animals, after all! They went in ‘whole hog’–contacting both the City of Pflugerville and the civilian sect (Pfurry Priends) benefitting our local lost pets. They barely blinked at any suggestions to make it as big as possible. News crews,
Constable and Scouts help, large rentals companies, and eloborate demos were placed in with beer distributors, Yaghi’s pizza, and silent auction items that were extremely desirable. Then, of course? The Pfashion show. More than 20 models with actual adoptable animals walking the runway! A beautiful sight.
It was such an amazing event last September, that coverage in the local media and recognition as one of the highest grossing events for Maurice’s in the nation caught the attention of Corporate. Result? Combined funds and awareness led to a handful of adoptions and help towards the shelter’s a/c, heating, and many other ammenities more tha
n they had the year before and a visit to this year’s event by the big wigs that thought up such a noble fundraiser in the first place. This year, we are hoping to exponentially increase our positive impact on our pflugerville pfurry pfriends. Would you please help?
We have had such a great outpouring of support from our local community. Please come and help our local shelter. Pfind your newest Pfamily member. Donate to those you cannot house. AND HAVE SOME PFUN! See the website for sponsors, participants, demos, and more! Thank you to Gorasaurus productions for Pflyers, Website, and more.
www.mauricespfashionpfundraiser.org/welcome.html
With a Carnival theme devised by the Maurice’s Managers, kids and adults alike will enjoy this event. It is a full three hours where you both help the unfortunate pfurries and enjoy yourselves. Cake walk, face painting, bouce houses and more for the kids. BBQ, Pizza, water, snowcones, and beer available. Entry is purchased with one non-parishable item to donate to the shelter (dog/cat food, blankets, toys, etc.). See you there!
